I had this whole trip planned for me and the family to a nearby beach. We would leave at 7.30am to get there for 8am before it got super busy. I’d set up the camera on a tripod and take some incredible photos with that beautiful beach background blurred to oblivion and the morning sunlight creating some dazzling lens flares. Needless to say, nothing went to plan. Not only did we get there late — around 11.30am when the beach was packed — but there was no sun whatsoever and I almost threw up during the car journey.

My mind was screwed and most of the shots I was taking didn’t come out as expected. I got annoyed with myself and so threw gently lay my camera down on the sand, just underneath my leg, and snapped an image. I wasn’t expecting anything great. Maybe it was the angle, or the colours but the result is (subjectively) the best photo I took on the day. Yes… the picture of my foot.
